Watershed News: Perdue Talks Conservation

December 13, 2009

The message from Columbus, northeast Georgia, Savannah, and our northern neighbors in Tennessee continues to ring loud and clear for Governor Perdue: Don’t even think about bailing out Metro Atlanta with our water.  Perdue, his consultants, and the Water Contingency Task Force hear this and seem to be taking water efficiency more seriously than big engineering options to solve Georgia’s water woes, as reported in many media outlets (Atlanta Business Chronicle and SaportaReport).  The water negotiators are also talking about a culture of conservation as the most economic and speedy method to meet the state’s projected water supply shortfall.  The AJC and Dalton Daily Citizen have some great quotables.  Stay tuned – the Task Force’s official recommendations come out later this month.
